Pente

Five poets—Deanne Lister, Brad Drew, Susie Faint, Ron Wiseman and Judith Bandidt—met in 2006. They shared a common location (eastern Australia's beautiful Sunshine Coast), a zest for living and a love of poetry.
Ron initiated the notion of forming a poetry group, Brad suggested Pente as a suitable name, and soon the five became the Pente Poets, good friends who met once a month for lunch, at Flaxton in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland to share, critique and enjoy their poetry.
Creativity flourished in this nurturing environment and the Pente Poets' first poetry collection, Fridays at Flaxton, was published in 2007. Since then the Pente Poets have continued to meet regularly at various venues, from Flaxton, Montville and Maleny on the Blackall Range, to Caloundra and Maroochydore on the coast. Pente Poets gatherings are characterised by good food, good wine, lots of laughter, poetry reading and critique.

In 2010, the five became six, when rebel-colonial and accomplished poet Lyn Browne was invited to join the group. Lyn lives part of the year in Devon, England, and part of the year in Australia, at Maleny in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
From diverse writing backgrounds and possessing very different poetic styles, the Pente Poets are serious about their craft. Their individual creative endeavours, directed towards writing and refining a body of poetic works, have benefited from the peer review, encouragement and support offered through membership of the group.
The Pente Poets second poetry collection, Some Other Landscape, was published in 2012. Both books call upon other talents within the group, and feature the fine artwork of Susie Faint and Brad Drew, with editing, layout and design by Judith Bandidt.
